great gramps 1917-2013

doug's gramps passed away yesterday
but what i wanted to talk about was our New Years Eve with him
i saw him last Christmas Eve
& the boys had not seen for awhile
so we came home early from the lake
to be with him,
and mom & pop
and Lisa
and that is what we did
it was so nice
we sat around his bed
ordered pizza & pop
played BigBand music & partied together :)
great gramps' feet bopped in bed perfectly in time to the music
he couldn't talk so he squeezed the boys hands
so hard it hurt
Doug joked that gramps was a tough old guy
he just smiled, winked & continued squeezing them

it was so nice
i know i said that already but it really was

we did not go back with the boys after that nite
we wanted them to have that last party as their memory

i took this on nick's ipod
it makes me smile

thank you great gramps for all the memories
we will never forget
keep dancing

I'm so sorry to read of your family's loss.

But I am so glad, for all of you, that you have a very positive memory of your last time with Doug's Great Grandfather.

As ever, thank you for sharing.
